Under the Sea

Benjamin and I took the girls on an outing to the aquarium. This was a great field trip for all. It was a long day, but a great one. We went in the afternoon, so it wasn't nearly as crowded and we were able to spend as long as we wanted to in each exhibit.

They even patiently posed for pictures when all they really wanted to do was run off and look at more sea creatures.

I loved watching the largest tank. I think I could have sat there for hours. The rays, the fish, the turtle, they were all so fascinating. We loved the dive show where the diver taught us about the ray sharks and the new baby ray sharks that had just been born. We even learned that fish like to have sand dropped on their backs and that it is like a back rub to them.

This guy is large and doesn't move much.

Interpretive dance above the crocodiles.

Albino crocodiles.

We took them out for pizza after a quick stop at the gift shop.

They were fascinated by the pizza dough boy....he was very good at throwing the dough up in the air and somehow making a perfectly round pizza crust. When he saw the girls watching him, he picked up a handful of flour and threw it right at their faces. It hit the glass only, but they were both still startled.

We live in a beautiful world and the diversity of species continues to amaze me. I am grateful for the opportunity to visit places like this. I hope that the girls gained an appreciation for the beauty that exists under the seas of this amazing earth.
